Our Yoga Studio can accommodate up to 20 students per class.  All classes are drop~in and "first come first serve".  We keep the room temperature at a comfortable level depending on the season, unlike other styles of yoga done in a heated room at 100-108 degrees.  The body heat you build in a yoga practice comes from your own effort and will warm you up to where you  need to be for your own health, safety and deeper flexibility.  Challenge may vary depending on the teacher.  Always remember to listen carefully to and honor your own body by going at your own pace.

Most importantly we must not forget that Yoga is "non-competitive"!  No mirrors, no judgments, no pressure.  Just the enjoyment of "being".

All of our open classes are designed for all levels of student... if you are unsure about taking an open session yoga class, I do offer private and semi-private sessions to help you break the ice.  If you are interested in more advanced yoga teachings than you are finding in our general classes, please contact Nancy with your requests. nancysp at nshouseofyoga.com

Etiquette for Yoga Classes... For More Tips... see In Class Tip Page

  • Arrive 5-15 minutes BEFORE scheduled class time & please enter the studio quietly.  Classes begin promptly.

  • The door is locked at the designated class time.  Please do not disrupt the class with a late arrival.

  • Notify your teacher of any health problems or changes (such as pregnancy, recent surgery, etc) BEFORE class begins.

  • Let your teacher know if you must leave early and plan to do so before Savasana (the final relaxation pose).

  • Students will need clean, bare feet & an empty stomach (no heavy meals... light snack more than an hour before class is acceptable).

  • CHILDREN in Class:  Well-behaved children are welcome to attend all classes (see price list for discounts).  Age 8 and up is preferred.  (Note to parents... please refrain from instructing your child during class, as this distracts the class as well as takes away from your own experience.  The teachers are prepared to assist your child when necessary.  Children gain much just by being there and "adjusting" children into correct alignment is not typically done, as children need yoga to be playful and happy rather than fear being criticized and corrected.

To honor the practice of yoga, help us keep distractions to a minimum...

  •   Minimize strong body odors or perfume

  •   Please turn OFF pagers and cell phones (or leave in car)

  •   Wear comfortable clothing that allows for freedom of movement as well as modesty

All yoga props are available for purchase...

  •   We encourage you to bring your own mat & towel to class, especially if you plan on continuing your practice

  •   Mat use for the first 5 classes if free... after that we ask for a 50¢ cleaning donation for each use.
