Do I have to be flexible to start Yoga?
If we all waited until we were flexible, none of us would be doing Yoga! It doesn't matter where you are when begin your Yoga; from your first class you begin building strength and flexibility. You will be amazed at how quickly your body responds and how much easier all movement will be. The more you strengthen and open your body, the less likely you will be to have pain or injury. The fact is, those who suffer from "hyperflexibility" without the strength to support it, are more likely to suffer from injuries than those who are quite tight yet strong. Yoga works on both... creating strength & stability first, flexibility second. |
