I appreciate your concerns about starting Yoga classes… I had the same concerns when I first began. However, the lovely reality is that every class is a wide mix of people and abilities. The wonderful thing about yoga is that it is the least competitive thing I know of. People just do what they can, some days they do more, some less. My teachings stem from Classical Yoga, which is more about honoring your inner teacher than it is about listening to the teacher in the room.. I spend a lot of time explaining the poses, what I want you to feel physically and what I don’t want you to feel (like pain). Even though my classes are said to be “intense”, that is only because each person is given permission and support to take the intensity to the level they are most comfortable with… and each person in the room will have a different threshold of what that is. This is yoga. There are only a couple of classes that I don’t recommend to beginners, and that is because they move a little faster and if you don’t really understand the poses, and the safe way to get in and out of them, you could get hurt. Those are the M & W 4pm classes. Otherwise, the rest are perfect for you. Come try a couple… see how it makes you feel. All of the teachers at the House Of Yoga "love yoga" for their own reasons and are excited to share what they know with you. If you have thought about it, now is the time to try it. What do you have to lose? It's a small investment to make in order that you might just find something you love and look forward to as much as we do. Sincerely, Nancy
