CHERI DAVIS - Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Yoga Teacher
My yoga path began 11 years ago in Las Vegas Nevada. A friend suggested I try yoga for stress release and I was hooked. In 2005, I fulfilled my dream of becoming certified through 8 Limbs Yoga in Seattle. I am grateful that my main yoga teachers have been Anne Phyfe Palmer, Melina Meza, and Tias Little. I also gain inspiration from the teachings/writings of Jack Kornfield, Deepak Chopra and the Dalai Lama. In addition, my meditation, dancing, and massage clients give me much to be inspired by. Well really, if we are truly present, most anything can be inspiring! I teach a Hatha/Iyengar style of yoga with a focus on breath, alignment, core strength and support. My classes are slow and meditative. While I work with people on alignment, breath and strength, I also teach them how being truly present can bring about huge transformation-internally and externally. I like calling the yoga I teach and practice, bliss yoga. I have found that when we slow down in our yoga practice it gives us the ability to uncover deeper parts of ourselves. Often times people discover an internal bliss which can be overlooked in this fast paced world. When we hook into this bliss, a profound peace, joy and grace are available. Yoga, for me, is much more than a physical practice…it is an energetic practice and a life practice. However, I usually try not to take myself too seriously, so having fun and playing is a big part of how I life my life and how I teach yoga! I am also co-owner of Advanced Massage Solutions in downtown Redding. I received my massage training and licensing from The Brian Utting School of Massage in Seattle Washington, where the standards for massage therapy are one of the best in the country. My massage is visionary in nature, for me this means ‘seeing’ pain and injury from a holistic perspective. Because of my 6 years of clinical massage experience I understand how pain and injury affect the body, and bring that knowledge to my yoga classes. In my massage, I practice specific, focused injury treatment, plus structural integration, re-education and release. I also practice a deeply healing form of body work called Cranio Sacral. I believe that skilled therapeutic massage, like yoga, is extraordinary for healing from pain and injury. I am always accepting new massage clients and enjoy working on challenging injuries. Call me with any questions you may have 530-917-0123. Love and Light... C |
